Ebonyi State Governor Suspends Another Commissioner Over Misconduct
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has taken action against Commissioner Uchenna Igwe, citing allegations of misconduct and failure to fulfill his responsibilities.
Speaking at a media briefing held at his office in the Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, Governor Nwifuru announced Igwe’s indefinite suspension, effective immediately. Until his suspension, Igwe served as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Reports suggest that the commissioner neglected a critical assignment related to the payment of local government pensions, a task entrusted to him by the governor. This lapse led to his suspension, marking the fourth commissioner removed from their position recently.
Governor Nwifuru has previously suspended commissioners overseeing housing and urban development, water resources, and health. These actions, according to the governor, demonstrate his administration’s resolve to prioritize accountability and fulfill the promises made to the people of Ebonyi State.
In addressing these suspensions, the governor reiterated his commitment to ensuring that his government remains focused on delivering results that align with the needs and expectations of its citizens.
