Governor Makinde Reshuffles Cabinet to Boost State Efficiency
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has shuffled the deck at the top levels of his government, assigning several commissioners to new roles in a strategic shake-up aimed at improving performance across key ministries.
The changes were officially announced on Monday through a statement by the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi. While the move caught some by surprise, insiders say it reflects Makinde’s push for more effective governance.
As part of the reshuffle:
-
Seun Ashamu, who previously handled Energy and Mineral Resources, will now lead the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
-
Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola is leaving his post in Environment to head up Public Works, Infrastructure, and Transport.
-
Professor Dahud Shangodoyin, the former Public Works commissioner, will step into the role Ashamu vacated—taking charge of Energy and Mineral Resources.
-
In another switch, Professor Solihu Adelabu is moving from Education, Science and Technology to the Ministry of Establishments and Training.
-
Segun Olayiwola, who previously served in Establishments, is returning the favour by taking over the Education portfolio.
Governor Makinde encouraged all those affected by the changes to approach their new roles with renewed focus and a strong commitment to public service. He made it clear that the goal is simple: keep Oyo on the path of progress.
The reassignments take effect immediately.
