Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has taken decisive action by dismissing heads of several tertiary institutions in the state. This move was communicated through a statement issued by Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in Jos on Tuesday.
The institutions affected include Plateau University in Bokkos, Plateau Polytechnic in Barkin-Ladi, Colleges of Health Technology in Zawan and Pankshin, and the College of Education in Gindri. According to Jatau, the dissolution of these appointments is effective immediately.
Governor Mutfwang also approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of Plateau University. Expressing gratitude to the outgoing heads of the institutions for their service, the governor instructed them to hand over to the most senior officials within their respective institutions.
Furthermore, the governor canceled all recruitments conducted by the tertiary institutions between October 2022 and early 2023. The SSG stated that a comprehensive recruitment process for all tertiary institutions will be advertised accordingly.
This announcement underscores the governor’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the state’s educational sector, and it sets the stage for a fair and inclusive recruitment process moving forward.
