Gunmen attacked a church in Kaduna state, north-west Nigeria, kidnapping at least 25 members of the congregation.
According to a Christian Association of Nigeria official, the gunmen stormed the Bege Baptist Church in Chikun, abducting 40 people before escaping with 15 of them.
A police spokesman confirmed the attack but provided no further details.
Over the last two years, there have been numerous mass kidnappings by criminal gangs unrelated to the Islamist militants active in northern Nigeria.
Before releasing the hostages, kidnappers frequently demand a ransom.
