Whether you’re a longtime fan of African cinema or just love a good red carpet moment, this year’s edition promises something unforgettable for everyone. Each day is carefully crafted to celebrate the past, spotlight the present, and inspire the future of film and TV on the continent.
Here’s what’s coming up:
Wednesday, May 7 – Icons Night (7 PM WAT)
The celebration kicks off by giving flowers to the trailblazers. Icons Night is all about honoring the legends—those who laid the groundwork and shaped the African film industry into what it is today. It’s a night of nostalgia, respect, and admiration.
Thursday, May 8 – Young Filmmakers’ Day (10 AM WAT)
This one’s for the rising stars. From workshops and mentoring to fresh short films and panels, it’s a whole day built around creativity and new voices. If you’re chasing a dream behind the camera, this is your playground.
Friday, May 9 – Cultural Day (5 PM WAT)
Time to show off your roots. Cultural Day is a vibrant mix of music, food, fashion, and tradition. Come dressed in your best native wear and soak in the beauty of African heritage. Nollywood star Stan Nze will host, and the vibes will be unmatched.
Saturday, May 10 – Awards Night
The big one. The Red Carpet starts at 4 PM WAT — expect glitz, glam, and jaw-dropping style. At 7 PM WAT, the main ceremony begins, spotlighting the best of African storytelling over the past year. And when the final trophy is raised? The After Party kicks off at midnight, because what’s a celebration without a little fun?
