Hip-hop icon Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in New York on Monday after being indicted by a federal grand jury. While the indictment remains sealed for now, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams confirmed that Combs is in custody, with further details to be disclosed once the document is made public.
“We plan to unseal the indictment tomorrow and will provide more information at that time,” Williams stated.
Sources reveal that Combs was arrested in the lobby of a Manhattan hotel. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed frustration with the charges, describing them as unfair and insisting that Combs has been fully cooperating with authorities.
Agnifilo highlighted that Combs moved to New York specifically to face the legal process, portraying him as a music legend and devoted family man. He urged the public to avoid jumping to conclusions until the facts are known, asserting that Combs intends to prove his innocence.
“We are disheartened by the U.S. Attorney’s decision to proceed with what we view as an unjust prosecution. Sean Combs is not perfect, but he is no criminal. Please refrain from judgment until all the facts are revealed. He is confident that he will clear his name in court,” Agnifilo said in a statement.
This legal battle marks a serious challenge for Combs, who has previously faced allegations of sexual misconduct. The federal investigation, which first came to light in March when Homeland Security agents raided his properties in Los Angeles and Miami, has now resulted in his arrest.
Earlier, Combs’ lawyer, Aaron Dyer, criticized the raids, calling them a heavy-handed approach and dismissing the accusations as baseless.
