CoCo Lee, the renowned Hong Kong-born singer-songwriter, has been laid to rest. The funeral took place on Monday at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point, with a public vigil held in the evening. The ceremony was attended by friends and family, including singers Elva Hsiao and Jenny Tseng.
Outside the funeral hall, nearly 1,000 fans gathered with flowers and signs to pay their respects to the late singer. The public was allowed to pay tribute after a private service. People solemnly bowed in front of the coffin, surrounded by beautiful purple and pink flowers, and a portrait of CoCo Lee displayed the words “In loving memory of CoCo Lee.”
Her older sister Nancy confirmed that another funeral service will be held on Tuesday. The news of CoCo Lee’s passing deeply saddened everyone. She died at the age of 48 following a suicide attempt on July 5. The family revealed that she had been battling depression for several years, and her condition had worsened in recent months.
Despite seeking professional help and fighting bravely against depression, she tragically lost the battle. CoCo Lee was an iconic pop star who had a successful 30-year singing career, with numerous international accolades and top-selling songs. She left a lasting impression on audiences with her incredible live performances.

In 1996, CoCo embarked on an exciting journey by signing with Sony Music Entertainment. Her debut album achieved tremendous success, becoming the best-selling album in Asia for that year, as reported by Reuters. Notably, she lent her voice to the beloved character of Mulan in the 2020 animated film.
In her personal life, CoCo was married to Bruce Rockowitz, a Canadian businessman who formerly served as the chief executive of Li & Fung. She embraced the role of stepmother to his two daughters, cherishing the bonds that formed within their family.
