Legendary Afro-Juju musician Sir Shina Peters revealed that his ordination as a bishop came through a divine calling. In 2021, the veteran singer was ordained as a bishop at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of God in the Iju area of Lagos State.
Speaking to journalists on Friday in Lagos, Peters explained that the church leadership received a divine instruction regarding his ordination.
He shared that the divine instruction was communicated to the church leaders years before he accepted the position.
According to Peters, “The Almighty God told me that I should become the first bishop of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of God. He revealed this to the leaders of the church.
“God highlighted my unique role as a musician who has consistently used hymns in my music and performances, leading many souls to Christ. My music has always been rooted in hymns.
“I initially resisted the ordination until God finally intervened.”
Reflecting on his career, Peters expressed contentment with his progress and gratitude to God for guiding him throughout his journey.
“I am fulfilled, and I am at peace. The only thing I seek now is continued enlightenment through God’s word and the grace to draw closer to Him.
“There’s nothing more I ask for except to keep thanking God for my achievements by His grace. When I think of those who began this journey with me and are no longer here, I remain grateful to God.”
As for his fans, Peters hinted at something unexpected on the horizon, saying, “They should expect something unusual very soon.”
