Nollywood actress Ekene Umenwa has opened up about how her marriage to movie producer Ifeanyi Ogbodo Alex came to be. The pair, who tied the knot in November 2023, recently welcomed their first child.
In an interview, Umenwa shared that their relationship began as a business partnership. Over time, their professional collaboration evolved into a friendship, which eventually blossomed into love.
Reflecting on her decision to keep their relationship private, Umenwa explained that her reserved nature played a big role. “I met my husband years ago—over five years, I believe—through business. He was involved in the same kind of work I do. Our partnership grew into a friendship, and before long, he started falling for me, and eventually, I fell for him too,” she revealed.
Known for her private lifestyle, Umenwa said she was cautious about sharing her relationship on social media. “If you know me, you know I like to keep my life off social media. If not for the fact that this marriage was done to the glory of God, I might not have even shared it publicly. I needed to be sure and pray about it before putting it out there.”
She also touched on her concerns about publicizing her personal life, citing the need for discretion. “There are so many people who may not wish you well. That’s why I chose to keep my relationship private until I was absolutely ready.”
