1. Make Your Own Rosemary Hair Spritz
It’s not surprising that natural women are on the lookout for alternative hair care products. In some cases, trial and error simply do not work. In other cases, living a more natural lifestyle often sparks interest in other areas, such as hair and skin care. Making your own products is a great way to get exactly what you want, and it is usually much less expensive than buying commercial ones.
What’s the deal with rosemary? This herb is extremely beneficial to the body and hair. It has a long history of use in medicine, including antiseptic applications. In terms of hair, rosemary stimulates the scalp, promoting growth and slowing premature graying.
This spritz can be used on a daily basis. You shouldn’t use it if you straighten your hair because it’s water-based. It is, however, ideal for misting natural trees. Massage it into your hair after spritzing it, paying special attention to your temples if you’ve noticed thinning there.
Please research whether or not herbs and essential oils are safe for you before using them for personal use. Some medical conditions, such as pregnancy, should be discussed with your doctor before attempting to do your own skin or hair care.
Ingredients and Items You’ll Need
Tea bags with rosemary 2 bags for 12 oz. spritz or 3 bags for 16-24 oz.
Sage oil, tea tree oil, or grapefruit seed extract are examples of essential oils (used as a preservative)
Ylang-ylang, lavender, or whatever fragrance you prefer (optional)
A bottle of spray (clear or plastic bottles work, but a darker-colored container is preferred for reducing the amount of light that gets to your mixture, giving it a longer shelf life)
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil, then remove from heat.
- Tea bags should be steeped for 60 minutes. The water has cooled by this point.
- Fill the bottle halfway with water. Add five drops of sage oil or your preferred preservative, as well as several drops of your fragranced essential oil.
- Shake the bottle well.
2. Storage Tips
As previously stated, a dark container is preferable. It’s also a good idea to keep this spritz in the fridge to extend its shelf life. Although it contains a preservative, it has the potential to go rancid. It should be kept in a cool, dark place at all times. Bathrooms are usually too humid to be considered an ideal environment.
If you keep the same bottle for more than a month, sniff it occasionally to ensure it doesn’t smell “off.” Even so, any leftover spritz should be discarded after a couple of months.
