Former Lagos State Labour Party (LP) chairman, Olukayode Salako, has made it clear that he will not be backing Peter Obi if he runs for president again in 2027.
Salako, who played a key role in Obi’s strong showing in Lagos during the 2023 election, announced his departure from the LP in April 2023. His exit followed an indefinite suspension alongside five others over alleged anti-party activities.
In a recent interview with The Whistler, Salako confirmed his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing disappointment over his experience in the Labour Party.
“I’m no longer supporting Peter Obi. I’ve returned to my party, the APC, where I’ve been since 2014,” he said. “When there’s no trust in a party, there’s no reason to remain there. I’m now a chieftain of the APC and will be fully involved in the next presidential campaign.”
