2Baba Sets the Record Straight: “I’m Not Broke, I Planned Ahead”
Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, wants the world to know one thing—he’s doing just fine, financially.
In a recent appearance on the +234 Mzansi Podcast hosted by Nedu and others, the African Queen crooner addressed rumors about his financial status. With calm confidence, he dismissed the speculation and shared some insight into his life beyond music.
“I’m not broke,” 2Baba said plainly. “I invested my money. Whether I sing or not, I’m okay.”
The award-winning artist revealed he’s put his earnings to good use, channeling funds into business ventures outside the spotlight. From real estate to hospitality and his own record label, 2Baba has built a financial foundation strong enough to keep him afloat—with or without a new hit.
Despite his calm exterior, the singer did express his exhaustion over an ongoing feud with former bandmate Blackface. While reflecting on their collaboration days, 2Baba admitted that although both contributed to their early music, he wrote the bulk of their hits.
“I don’t know what I’ve done to him,” he said, visibly frustrated. “I’ve always shown him respect, but he keeps trying to drag my name through the mud.”
The bitterness between the two isn’t new, but 2Baba says the constant jabs have gone from annoying to painful.
“It’s ridiculous,” he said. “It hurts sometimes, because I still can’t figure out the reason for all of it.”
As far as he’s concerned, life goes on—and for 2Baba, that life remains secure, stable, and well-earned.
