Beverly Osu has opened up about a difficult period in her life following her role in the Netflix film Òlòtūré.
The actress revealed that she fell into depression for three months after filming, explaining that the intensity of the role left her struggling with her sense of self.
Beverly describes herself as a method actor—someone who fully surrenders to a character. That deep commitment, she says, makes it hard to simply “switch off” when the cameras stop rolling.
“When I shot Òlòtūré and left the set, I was depressed for three months because of an identity crisis. I had to search for Beverly again and put the pieces back together,” she shared.
She explained that it takes a lot of mental detox before she can step out of one role and into another, as she doesn’t just read lines—she embodies the character.
Beyond her career, Beverly’s journey has also deepened her passion for mental health advocacy. Drawing from her personal struggles, she emphasizes how often people dismiss mental well-being and why she feels the need to speak up about it.
For her, sharing this truth isn’t just about her own healing—it’s about reminding others that mental health deserves the same attention as physical health.
