Ghanaian actor Mawuli Gavor has opened up about why he traded a steady corporate job for the unpredictable world of entertainment.
Speaking on the Blackvolta Podcast, the actor recalled his early days working at global accounting firm KPMG while juggling modelling gigs in the mornings. At the time, he earned just 770 cedis a month, yet tried to balance photo shoots and office deadlines—a struggle that soon became overwhelming.
The breaking point came when a brand offered him the equivalent of his annual salary in a single deal. That moment shifted his perspective, showing him possibilities outside the 9-to-5 grind.
Resigning from his job, Gavor embraced the creative industry fully—not only for the financial opportunities but also for the freedom and time it offered.
Reflecting on the decision, he explained:
“If someone gives you your one-year salary in a single day, it changes everything. It’s not even about making way more money—it’s about saving so much more time. That’s why I can’t imagine going back to the regular office life.”
His journey, he added, shaped his commitment to acting and other creative pursuits, proving that sometimes the boldest risks open the door to the most rewarding paths.
