Jarrett Tenebe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Edo State, didn’t mince words in a now-viral video where he openly expressed strong disapproval of Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
According to Tenebe, Obi’s presence in Edo isn’t welcomed, linking his visits to past unrest and saying many people in the state, himself included, hold a deep dislike for the former presidential candidate.
He made these comments while defending Governor Monday Okpebholo, who came under fire after suggesting that Obi should have sought permission before staging any political event in the state. Tenebe backed the governor’s stance, insisting that due to the tensions surrounding Obi’s visits, prior notice was necessary—for the safety of all involved.
In his words, “Many of us in this state don’t want him here. The last time he came, lives were lost. So yes, it’s only fair for the governor to be informed before he steps foot here.”
Tenebe didn’t stop there. He took a jab at members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo, warning them to tread carefully. “If you want to wave the ADC flag, do it somewhere else. Here, it’s either APC or PDP—no space for confusion,” he said firmly.
