Falz Opens Up on Love, Heartbreak, and His Unshakable Beliefs
Falz, known not just for his lyrical wit but also his fearless voice in society, recently gave fans a rare glimpse into his personal life—and it wasn’t what most expected.
Speaking during the first live episode of the WithChude podcast, the rapper shared some surprising truths about his romantic journey. When asked if he’d ever had his heart broken, Falz replied without hesitation: “Never.” But there was more to it than just luck in love. He went on to explain that he’s never really offered his heart to anyone in the first place.
“If you don’t put your legs inside water, can you drown?” he quipped, adding with a laugh that he’s only ever handed out small pieces of his heart, never the whole thing.
Even more surprising was his confession that he’s never told anyone “I love you” in a romantic way. “Don’t get it twisted,” he clarified. “It’s not like I don’t feel emotions. I’ve said ‘I really like you,’ but ‘I’m in love with you’? That hasn’t happened yet.”
Beyond love, the conversation dove into deeper waters. Falz talked openly about his activism—something that’s earned him both admiration and warnings from those close to him.
“People tell me to back off, to stay safe,” he admitted. “But I’m an artist who reflects his world. I can’t ignore what’s happening around me. It’s personal. I feel it deeply.”
One of the defining moments he touched on was his role in the #EndSARS protests, a time he described as incredibly intense and transformative. “It was one of the hardest periods of my life,” he said. “But I don’t regret a thing. I was raised to stand for what I believe in.”
Though he acknowledged the criticism he sometimes faces—especially from those who say his efforts won’t be appreciated—Falz made it clear that he’s not in it for praise.
“It’s not about claps or recognition. It’s about doing what feels right. It’s about empathy. About humanity.”
Coming from a family rooted in justice—his father being the prominent lawyer Femi Falana—it’s no surprise that Falz speaks with conviction. But in this rare interview, it wasn’t just his passion for justice on display. It was his vulnerability too.
