Nigerian artist Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, recently clarified that his former label mate Wizkid never played a role in his career growth. Instead, he expressed deep appreciation for those who did, including his former label boss, Banky W, and fellow artists Olamide and Timaya.
Taking to his X handle, the Shake Body singer also gave a nod to Burna Boy for his support. He wrote, “Put some respect on my name… I’ve already said it—the only ones who helped me are Olamide, Timaya, and Banky W. Much respect to Burna too. People love to create drama between artists, but I’m setting the record straight.
“All I want is to keep making music and stay away from negative, toxic stuff… so love your favorite artist and stop spreading made-up stories.
Reacting to the post via the comment section, an X user claimed that Wizkid made Skales.
He wrote, “Wizkid made you.”
Skales rebuffed the claims, stating that he respects Wizkid, but the singer did not help him.
He responded, “Ask am make him tell una how … got respect for him but he dint help me … if anything Banky deserves the praise and respect for believing in teenagers.”
Skales and Wizkid were the first artists signed to Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment, EME, in the 2010s, but exited the label long after attaining stardom.
