Timi Dakolo recently opened up about how he met his wife, Busola. Naija News remembers that Timi and Busola tied the knot in 2012 and have since built a life together with their three children.
During an interview with Pulse, Timi revealed that he first encountered Busola at church, though she wasn’t initially interested in pursuing a romantic relationship. The singer shared how he remained persistent despite her hesitation, saying he worked hard to win her affection.
Timi recalled how Busola would feel uncomfortable whenever he picked her up in the branded Picanto car he won from the inaugural season of Nigerian Idols in 2007. He explained, “I met my wife at church. I asked her to be my date for a ball, and she gave me her number, but she wasn’t answering my calls. I kept visiting the area hoping to see her again. One day, I finally saw her and asked why she wasn’t picking up my calls. She said her phone had been stolen.”
“We became friends, and I began developing feelings for her. Though she tried to friend-zone me, I wasn’t ready to give up. I worked hard to win her love. I used to give her rides to and from work. At one point, she would feel embarrassed when I picked her up in the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols. I told her, ‘Don’t worry. I’ll prove you wrong.’ And I did.”
