“She Changed Everything”: Kazim Adeoti Reflects on First Impressions of Mercy Aigbe
Nollywood producer Kazim Adeoti is shedding light on what drew him to actress Mercy Aigbe long before they became a couple — and his story might surprise you.
Speaking in a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Kazim shared that it wasn’t just Mercy’s beauty or talent that stood out, but something far rarer in the industry: integrity.
“I’ll never forget it,” he said, recalling a project from back in 2011. “She had just wrapped her role in Hajia Jemila, and after I paid her, I braced myself for the usual complaints. But instead, she came back to tell me I’d actually overpaid her.”
He said he was stunned. That moment, he explained, shifted how he viewed working relationships in the industry—especially with women.
“At the time, people warned me: ‘Stick to working with men if you want to succeed.’ But Mercy completely challenged that thinking,” Kazim said. “She showed up with honesty, handled herself professionally, and stayed true to her word.”
The two continued collaborating on several projects, building a working bond that later blossomed into something more personal.
While their marriage stirred up online conversation — especially regarding Kazim’s first wife, Funsho — he chose to focus on the traits that made Mercy unforgettable in his eyes.
“She’s not just a woman, not just beautiful — she carries herself with a kind of grace and integrity that’s hard to come by,” he added.
And as for the money Mercy tried to return?
“I didn’t take it,” he laughed. “But that moment told me everything I needed to know about who she really is.”
