John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has made a commitment to complete all ongoing projects if he is victorious in the 2024 elections. He emphasized his determination not to abandon any projects initiated during the current administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, highlighting the NDC’s commitment to continuity and responsible use of taxpayers’ resources.
During a gathering at the NDC Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus Stakeholders Forum in Accra on September 16, 2023, Mahama stated, “I’m making a promise that when we come, we will continue all abandoned projects. Even projects that this current NPP government does not finish, we will continue and finish because they are funded by taxpayers’ money, so when you abandon them, you’re wasting the money of Ghanaians.”

The event brought together representatives from various Zongo and Muslim communities and institutions both within and outside the party. The purpose was to facilitate the sharing of experiences and discussions on topics of mutual interest, fostering social connections and a sense of community among attendees.
A notable figure in attendance was the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usmanu Nuhu Sharubutu. Mahama’s promise came after he accused the current administration of neglecting key projects initiated by his party, especially in Zongo communities, prior to leaving office in 2016. He pointed out, “When we were sharing the E-Blocks, several of them were allocated to the Zongo and Muslim communities, but many of those schools have been abandoned. We have done a lot in our Zongos, but we are not the type who come with a paper and read. Our people can see for themselves the work the NDC did when we were in office.”
Mahama also expressed his deep appreciation for the unwavering support the NDC has received from the Zongo communities and the Islamic fraternity throughout the years, pledging never to take it for granted.
