Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has assured him of her commitment in facing any challenges that may arise during their administration.
During her introduction in Accra as the running mate on Wednesday, Prof Opoku-Agyemang pledged to share in the party’s successes and take responsibility for any setbacks.
“I will share in our collective successes and take responsibility for our setbacks if any. And at the time of reckoning, Your Excellency John Mahama, I will not claim to have been merely a driver’s mate,” she affirmed.
Addressing attendees at her official unveiling, the former Education Minister emphasized that the upcoming election is not solely about bringing the NDC back to power but about a larger purpose.
“The purpose is the opportunity to heal our country again. It is about pulling Ghana back from the brink of destruction, normalizing corruption, and greed, and restoring hope and confidence among citizens,” she elaborated.
“We must work towards a Ghana where democracy thrives, citizens are empowered, and basic necessities are accessible to all,” she added.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in outlining his vision as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), previously referred to himself as a “driver’s mate,” which he believed hindered his effectiveness in addressing governmental challenges.
