Singer Simisola Kosoko has weighed in on the viral incident involving Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger who was forcefully removed from a flight after a heated confrontation.
The incident happened on Sunday during a trip from Uyo to Lagos. Reports say Emmanson repeatedly ignored instructions to switch off her phone before takeoff, prompting another passenger to turn it off for her. The situation quickly escalated into a verbal clash.
Things took a dramatic turn after landing when she allegedly attacked the flight’s purser — pulling off her wig, tossing her glasses to the floor, and even attempting to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon. Security officials stepped in to restrain her before she was taken into custody, arraigned, and remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre. Ibom Air has since issued her a lifetime ban.
Reacting to the incident, Simi expressed concern over the uncensored video of the altercation that surfaced online, pointing out that it exposed Emmanson’s bare chest to millions of viewers.
She questioned why the person who filmed and posted the footage had not been called out or penalized, arguing that such actions also deserve accountability.
“Let’s say she acted out and crossed the line,” Simi wrote. “But someone filmed her in that state, shared it without blurring her, and now millions have seen it when only a handful were there in person. She’ll face the law, yes — but whoever posted that video should also answer for it. You can’t call out one wrongdoing and ignore another.”
