Comfort Emmanson, a passenger involved in the recent Ibom Air incident, has been freed from detention.
Her case, which was before an Ikeja Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos, came to an end on Wednesday when Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck it out. This followed the withdrawal of the five-count charge against her by the police.
During the hearing, prosecution counsel Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court of new developments that led to the decision. A formal application to discontinue the case was submitted and accepted.
This move came shortly after the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced that the matter would be dropped after discussions with key figures in the aviation sector.
Following her release, Emmanson shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking everyone who stood by her during the ordeal. She revealed she is still in pain from how she was treated and will share her version of events once she has rested and received medical care.
“Thank you so much for all the prayers, love, and support. I’ve been released but still need some rest and treatment before I speak on what happened. I truly appreciate everyone who reached out. God bless you all,” she wrote.
