Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah emphasized his focus on team success rather than individual accolades, reiterating his commitment to helping Liverpool secure a Premier League title. Salah played a crucial role in Liverpool’s dominant 5-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, the star forward made it clear that he isn’t concerned about personal honors like the Ballon d’Or.
“I’m not thinking about the Ballon d’Or,” Salah said. “My priority is to win the Premier League. I’m fully committed to doing my best for the team and helping us achieve a trophy. Other teams may try to close the gap, but we need to stay humble and keep our focus.”
Under manager Arne Slot, Liverpool are on track for a historic 20th English top-flight title, extending their lead at the top of the table to eight points. Sunday’s performance at London Stadium showcased the team’s strength, as they secured their 23rd win in 27 matches across all competitions this season.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the first half, and Salah played a pivotal role by assisting Cody Gakpo for the second goal. Salah also reached a personal milestone, scoring his 20th goal of the season just before halftime, further cementing Liverpool’s dominance.
In the second half, the Reds continued their strong showing, with Trent Alexander-Arnold scoring from long range and Diogo Jota adding a fifth goal, both assisted by Salah.
Coach Arne Slot praised his team’s performance, saying, “I enjoyed this match because moments like these don’t come around often.”
Amid ongoing discussions about Salah’s future, along with that of Alexander-Arnold and captain Virgil van Dijk—who could negotiate free transfers with foreign clubs starting in January—Salah remains steadfast in his commitment to Liverpool’s title push. “My sole focus is on helping Liverpool win the league, and I want to be a part of that journey,” he said.
