According to official results, Nigeria’s opposition PDP candidate Atiku Abukar has received the majority of votes in the northwestern state of Sokoto.
He received 288,679 votes, but the APC’s Bola Tinubu, the governing party’s candidate, came in second with 285,444 votes.
The Labour Party’s Peter Obi trailed way behind the majority Muslim state with 6,568 votes.
