He pointed out that many former participants, including Erica, Teddy A, and Laycon, who were already thriving before joining the show, experienced a decline in their careers afterward. DeeOne emphasized that while many ex-housemates are still earning money, staying relevant in the public eye has proven to be a bigger challenge.
“In the history of Big Brother Naija, only three of us — DeeOne, Ebuka, and Bisola — are still relevant today,” he said. “We have over 150 ex-housemates, but how many are still in the spotlight?”
DeeOne clarified that his concern isn’t about financial success but about the continuing presence and relevance of these former housemates. He noted that many participants entered the show seeking fame, but it’s often more difficult to maintain that after leaving the Big Brother house.
He added, “Erica was acting before the show, but after the show, her career seemed to stagnate. Teddy A was touring African countries with his music before the show, but once he entered the house, his career slipped. Laycon also saw a shift in his career post-show. It’s not about people who didn’t have much before; it’s about those who had something going for them.”
According to DeeOne, for many, the pursuit of fame on Big Brother Naija has proven to be more challenging than anticipated, making the aftermath of the experience a tough journey
