Falz isn’t holding back.
In a recent chat with HipTV, the rapper and activist got real about the state of things in the country — and he didn’t sugarcoat it.
“We’re still battling with power supply in 2025. Imagine still hearing ‘up NEPA’ like it’s 1999,” he said, clearly exasperated.
But that’s not all. Falz also touched on the ongoing drainage problems that turn cities into swimming pools after just a little rain. “It’s embarrassing,” he added. “A few drops and everywhere’s flooded.”
He went on to talk about the entertainment scene, calling it “mad” — not just in terms of the hustle, but the toll it takes. According to him, many in the industry are silently dealing with mental health struggles. “We all dey mad,” he said with a smile, “just that some people’s own worse pass.”
Shifting gears, Falz shared a personal story — one that still stings. He recalled planning a romantic dinner with flowers, hoping to impress a girl he really liked. “After the dinner, she said she just wasn’t feeling it,” he said with a laugh that didn’t quite hide the heartbreak. “I thought we were vibing… apparently not.”
He also reflected on the shadow of his father’s name. As the son of renowned lawyer Femi Falana, he faced doubts about his rise in music. “People used to say I only made it because of my dad,” he said. “But now? They see him and say, ‘That’s Falz’s dad.’”
Raw, honest, and a little vulnerable — just like Falz always is.
