Buhari Deserves Respect, Not Ridicule — Farouk Aliyu Speaks Out
Farouk Aliyu, a longtime associate of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has spoken out against the wave of criticism that followed the news of Buhari’s death.
Appearing on Sunrise Daily, a morning program on Channels Television, Aliyu expressed disappointment over the online backlash, describing the insults as deeply unfortunate.
“Every leader has flaws,” he acknowledged, “but it would be unfair to ignore Buhari’s contributions just because of where one stands politically.”
Aliyu, who once served as the Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, urged Nigerians to reflect on the former president’s legacy with balance, rather than harsh judgment.
“He had his shortcomings like every human being,” he added, “but let’s not forget that he also made efforts to move the country forward. He deserves credit where it’s due.”
