Fulham’s Alex Iwobi is setting his sights higher after a solid showing in the 2023–2024 Premier League season. Reflecting on Fulham’s impressive eighth-place finish—the club’s best ever—the Nigerian midfielder is now calling on his teammates to aim for a spot in European competition.
“What we pulled off last season should be the fuel we need to go even further,” Iwobi said. “Europe isn’t out of reach. We’ve proven what we’re capable of—now it’s time to build on that.”
Under the leadership of Marco Silva, Fulham made huge strides last season, but narrowly missed out on a ticket to European football. For Iwobi, that near-miss should only push the squad to come back stronger.
In a related development, former Nigerian captain Jay-Jay Okocha has offered his thoughts on the future of Victor Osimhen. The Napoli striker, who had an outstanding campaign during a loan stint at Galatasaray—bagging both league and cup titles and finishing as top scorer—is expected to make a major move this summer.
Though there’s been heavy interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, reports suggest Osimhen is keen on staying in Europe to continue his career at the highest level.
Okocha, speaking to Sport 247, believes the next step in Osimhen’s journey is one only he can decide.
“At the end of the day, it’s his path,” Okocha said. “Whatever choice he makes—good or bad—he has to own it. No one else can live his career for him.”
The message from both football stars is clear: trust yourself, take bold steps, and always push for more.
