He was released on a $100,000 bail.
Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has asked a Johnson County judge to change his bond to allow him to communicate with witnesses.
The motion requests that Mahomes contact four witnesses, all of whom are named in the court filing. It also claims that Mahomes has been isolated from these witnesses and that communicating with them would be in his best interests.
After allegedly assaulting the owner of Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Kansas City last February, Mahomes was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery and three counts of aggravated sexual battery. He was released after posting $100,000 bail.
A surveillance video showed a man who resembled Mahomes sexually and physically assaulting a woman while she begged him to stop. Mahomes was also involved in a physical altercation with a restaurant server.
Mahomes is not permitted to consume alcohol, illegal drugs, or controlled substances as part of his bond conditions and must submit to drug testing. He is also barred from publicly commenting on the case, including the accuser and her establishment. If convicted of aggravated sexual battery, he could face up to 55 months in prison.
Mahomes has been silent on social media since his arrest, but he recently returned by posting photos of himself and his brother Patrick attending the 2023 NFL Draft. Mahomes is set to return to court on May 11 for a hearing on the motion to allow communication with witnesses
