Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho is determined to silence his critics as he continues to impress during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge. After an exhilarating 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, Sancho reflected on his journey and expressed gratitude for the support he’s received at Chelsea.
“From the moment I arrived, I’ve felt welcomed at Chelsea. There are a lot of people I want to prove wrong. I’ve been putting in a lot of effort, and I want to thank the coaching staff and my teammates for believing in me and giving me this opportunity,” Sancho told SuperSport TV.
Sancho made the move to Chelsea on loan from Manchester United during the summer, following a period where he struggled to secure regular playing time under former manager Erik ten Hag.
During the match, Sancho not only put in an impressive performance but also shared his appreciation for head coach Enzo Maresca’s halftime encouragement. Despite being 2-0 down at the break, Sancho remained hopeful after scoring a brilliant long-range goal in the 17th minute.
In the second half, Chelsea took control of the game. Cole Palmer netted two penalties, and Enzo Fernandez added another, while Son Heung-min’s late goal for Tottenham wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
Reflecting on Maresca’s motivating words after the game, Sancho said, “Going 2-0 down was tough, but I knew we could turn it around after we got that first goal. At halftime, the gaffer told us we were still in it, and I have great faith in my teammates, so I was confident we would come back strong.”
Sancho also shared that Maresca emphasized the importance of staying wide and creating opportunities for one-on-ones. “I’ve been focusing on improving my shooting, and the staff and players have been incredibly supportive in helping me grow,” he added.
