Jihadists from the Islamic State group in Mali have taken control of a village in Ménaka, a region that is now largely under militant control.
Following months of fighting, Islamist militants took control of another village, Tidermene, on Monday night.

According to a local official who fled to the regional capital Ménaka, the insurgents were moving around the village with weapons.
Since early last year, the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara has waged a significant offensive in the region, as well as in Gao, an area in northern Mali.
There have been clashes with Al-Qaeda-linked fighters and Tuareg ex-insurgents who signed a peace agreement in 2015.
