President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have strongly condemned the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
On Sunday, Trump, a Republican candidate for the presidency, was targeted while at his golf facility in Florida. This marks the second time since his announcement for a second presidential run that Trump has been subjected to such violence.
Biden took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation, stating, “I’ve been briefed on today’s attempted assassination of former President Trump. A suspect is in custody, and I want to commend the Secret Service and their partners for their swift response to ensure Trump’s safety. I’m relieved to hear he’s unharmed.”
He continued, “There is an ongoing investigation into the incident as more details emerge. I want to reiterate that political violence has no place in our country. My administration is committed to providing the Secret Service with all necessary resources to protect former President Trump and everyone around him.”
Vice President Harris also expressed her relief that Trump is safe. “I’ve been informed about the gunshots fired near former President Trump’s property in Florida. I’m relieved he is safe. Violence has no place in America,” she posted on X.
Both leaders have made it clear that such acts of violence are unacceptable and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of all public figures.
