Atlético Madrid Sign Johnny Cardoso, While Bournemouth Land Djordje Petrovic in Summer Moves
Atlético Madrid have added fresh energy to their midfield, securing the signature of Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis on a five-year contract.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who holds both Brazilian and Italian passports, was born in New Jersey but grew up in Brazil, where he developed his skills in the youth setups of Avaí, Criciúma, and Internacional. He broke into Internacional’s senior team in 2019, eventually clocking 144 appearances before moving to Betis in the 2023–2024 winter transfer window.

During his stint under Manuel Pellegrini at Betis, Cardoso earned a reputation for his work ethic, precise distribution, and occasional goal contributions. His performances played a key role in the club’s run to the UEFA Conference League final, where they finished as runners-up.
Djordje Petrovic Makes Premier League Switch to Bournemouth
In another major summer move, Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has joined AFC Bournemouth from Chelsea, also on a five-year deal.
The 25-year-old impressed during his loan spell at Strasbourg in the 2024–2025 season, helping the Ligue 1 side secure a 7th-place finish and a spot in European competition. His consistent form earned him both the club’s Player of the Season award and a nomination for Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year.
Tiago Pinto, Bournemouth’s President of Football Operations, expressed excitement about the signing, saying: “Bringing in a player of Djordje’s talent and maturity was an easy decision. He adds real strength to our squad.”
Petrovic himself shared his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to be here. Bournemouth is a great opportunity for me to grow and compete at a high level. I’m here to work hard and contribute everything I can.”
He becomes Bournemouth’s third key addition this summer, joining Adrian Truffert from Rennes and Junior Kroupi, who previously impressed on loan at Lorient.
