John Christopher Depp II, better known as Johnny Depp, an American actor, will not be returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Rumors began to circulate on Wednesday, according to the DailyMail, when a story claimed he would be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
According to the rumor, Johnny Depp’s name was seen on a call sheet for a new installment of the highly successful film series.
However, five years after his last film, Depp will not be returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to reprise his role as the swashbuckling favorite, Jack Sparrow.
Depp last played the dashing protagonist in 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, when the series’ producers decided to give the hugely popular film franchise some “new vitality.”
Depp was let go from the Disney franchise in 2018 because the producers sought to inject “new vitality” into the program.
The executives reportedly intended to bring him back, though, on a $300 million deal that included a sixth movie and a Disney Plus spin-off series, according to reports from earlier this year.
