Even though his Donda Academy has all but collapsed, Kanye West is still trying to give it fresh life by moving it to a new, more revered site.
In three face-to-face conversations over the past month, Kanye has expressed interest in renting some of the church space in Northridge, California, in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, for the Donda Academy, according to Cornerstone Christian Church’s pastor Ronald Nagin.
According to Kanye, CCC is an improvement over Donda’s previous location in Chatsworth, which Ye allegedly relocated to last year. Donda Academy has been operating out of Simi Valley before that.
Nagin replies that one thing Ye like about Cornerstone is that it provides a larger area with more classrooms and a sanctuary. Important to note Ye would only be using a piece of the grounds if he took this action; he wouldn’t be using the entire church property.
The wheels are in motion, however, Nagin points out that nothing is finalized just yet. because a lease for Ye is allegedly being prepared by Cornerstone’s attorneys right now.
It’s also not a one-way interest street. The church, according to Nagin, sees Donda Academy as a wonderful fit for them as well. According to reports, Kanye’s top priority is delivering quality education in a Christian setting, which is ideal for the church as several schools have previously operated out of Cornerstone.
The major problem, of course, is that Kanye is losing his instructors who have lately left for different schools. If he is successful in securing the new location, he will need to enlist many new students and persuade the current ones to return.
Nagin tells us that he views Kanye as a good guy and a friend, thus the answer to your question is no, despite the rapper’s recent prejudiced and antisemitic remarks. Even outside of the discussions over the potential leasing space, he stopped by this week for service.
It’s intriguing… As a result of Ye’s erratic conduct, Donda Academy has reportedly been somewhat of a bare-bones operation; uprooting it once more thus wouldn’t be as weird as it initially appears to be.
