Opposition politicians in Kenya are making another legal attempt to halt the country’s planned deployment of police officers to Haiti.
Last year, President William Ruto proposed sending 1,000 officers to help combat gang violence in the Caribbean nation. However, this deployment has faced delays due to a legal challenge, though reports suggest some officers may be sent to Haiti in the coming days.
The leaders of the Thirdway Alliance, a minor opposition party, accuse President Ruto’s government of defying a previous court order. They argue that Kenya should focus on addressing its own security issues before intervening abroad.
