Kenya’s ruling coalition has named individuals to represent it in negotiations with the opposition.
The seven-member team – five MPs and two senators – was announced on Tuesday following a meeting presided over by President William Ruto.
Last week, the opposition announced its lineup.
Earlier this month, President Ruto agreed to hold talks with the opposition on electoral reform, but only within the confines of parliament.
Raila Odinga, the opposition leader, accepted the invitation and suspended recent protests, but insisted on the involvement of clergy and non-state groups as well.
The protests killed three people, including a police officer, and injured hundreds more. Mr. Ruto stated that the violence was harmful to the economy.
