A school in western Kenya has been closed indefinitely after two students died from what appears to be food and water poisoning.
Mukumu Girls High School in Kakamega County was closed down on Monday by public health officials after over 100 students were hospitalized last week with abdominal pains and diarrhea.
According to preliminary findings, the students may have been poisoned by food or water. Local media reported that samples were collected and sent to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) for analysis.
After learning of the two students’ deaths, parents flocked to the school to pick up their children.
