In the midst of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, a group of artists has painted murals in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.
It is the fifth and final mural in a series that has previously been painted in Vienna, Berlin, Marseille, and Brussels.
“One of Russia’s key elements in the war against Ukraine is the policy of destruction and elimination of Ukrainian identity,” said Emine Dzhaparova, Ukraine’s deputy foreign minister.

“Russian invaders closed Ukrainian schools and imposed their language and history in our temporarily occupied territories,” the minister added.
The mural was created by Kenyan artists Moha and Eliamin Ink, as well as their Ukrainian counterparts Alina Konyk, Nikita Kravtsov, and Andrii Kovtun, and can be found on the wall of Phoenix House in the heart of Nairobi.
“I am confident that our artistic collaboration is an excellent opportunity to begin our diplomatic relations in a cultural setting,” said Nikita Kravtsov, a Ukrainian concept artist.
The mural depicts Kenya and Ukraine’s political, economic, and diplomatic ties through the use of coffee and wheat grains.
