AC Milan has finalized a deal to bring Manchester City captain Kyle Walker on loan for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the move permanent next summer.
Walker, who boasts an impressive 316 appearances for Manchester City, will soon head to Italy for a medical assessment.
The 34-year-old defender made his last appearance for City in a match against West Ham on January 4, during which he informed manager Pep Guardiola of his desire to explore a potential move abroad. While there had been speculation about interest from the Saudi Pro League, Walker has expressed a preference for a transfer to Italy.
In addition to Walker, AC Milan has also shown interest in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. However, due to Italian registration regulations, the club can only sign one player from the UK in this transfer window.
Walker, who made a £50 million move from Tottenham to Manchester City in 2017, has been a key figure in the club’s success, helping secure six Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola. He was named joint-captain in 2023 as part of a five-player leadership group selected by his teammates.
Meanwhile, Manchester City has been active in the January transfer window, securing three new signings totaling around £123 million. Notable additions include Egypt’s Omar Marmoush from Bundesliga side Frankfurt for £59 million, Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30 million, and Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £33.6 million.
