Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid’s star forward, has made it clear that he does not want his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), to claim the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League title. Since making his high-profile move from PSG to Real Madrid in the summer, Mbappe has firmly set his sights on winning the prestigious tournament with his new team, putting their success above his old club’s ambitions.
The 25-year-old forward has previously come close to Champions League glory, reaching the final in 2020 with PSG. However, his side was narrowly defeated by Bayern Munich, losing 1-0 in a hard-fought match.
When asked about PSG’s chances in this season’s competition, Mbappe candidly said, “Do I want PSG to win the UCL? Right now? No, I want to win with Madrid. I wish them the best at PSG. I hope they will one day win the Champions League, but not now—because I have to win a little (laughs).”
In a separate part of the interview, Mbappe reflected on his time at PSG and spoke highly of his former teammate, Lionel Messi. The Real Madrid forward praised Messi’s unparalleled skills, noting that the Argentine icon excels in all areas of the game. “Messi does everything well,” Mbappe remarked.
Mbappe also shared how much he learned from Messi during their time together at PSG. He revealed that he often sought advice from the football legend, saying, “You can learn everything from a guy like that. I used to go up to him and ask: how do you do this? How do you do that?”
During their successful stint at PSG, both Mbappe and Messi helped the team secure multiple French Ligue 1 titles and other prestigious honors, marking a golden period for the club.
