More Mac Miller music is on the way.
Madlib has revealed that his previously teased collaboration with the late rapper is nearly finished.
This week, during an appearance with Talib Kweli on “Sway in the Morning” (via Complex), the rapper/producer provided an update on the album, formerly known as Maclib.
“Right now, I’m finishing up the Mac Miller album,” Madlib explained before confirming that this is the same album that was announced following Mac’s death in 2019.
He also revealed that Mac’s estate has approved the project. “They’re down,” he confirmed.
It’s unclear when the project will be released, but it appears to be nearing completion.

In January 2020, Mac’s estate released his final album Circles. His estate announced plans for a posthumous project featuring fan tributes in July 2020.
“Mac Miller’s team is currently working on an untitled project to commemorate Malcolm and his music,” his team stated at the time. “His art touched so many people’s lives in so many different ways.”
A toll-free number was established so that fans could call and share their stories, thoughts, and desires to be included in the project. The album’s current status is unknown.
Ariana Grande recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of her debut single “The Way,” which featured her then-boyfriend Miller. After a fan account noted the milestone and reposted the video on her Instagram, she commented, “I love you.”
