Manchester United is reportedly open to bringing back English forward Mason Greenwood this summer. Once considered the crown jewel of the team, Greenwood’s career faced a major setback due to a rape and assault scandal.
Although his girlfriend, Harriet Robson, who initially accused him, has withdrawn the charges and resumed their relationship, some Manchester United fans remain opposed to his return. As a result, Greenwood spent the season on loan with Getafe, where he impressed by scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists in 36 matches across all competitions.
Despite Getafe’s interest in extending his loan for another season, Manchester United is reportedly not considering this option. According to the Mirror, the club is “prepared to welcome Greenwood back” this summer.
United’s plan, however, involves selling the 22-year-old forward, with a target transfer fee of £40 million. Clubs across Europe, particularly in Italy, have shown significant interest in Greenwood. Lazio recently made a £30 million bid, which United turned down. Napoli and Juventus are also keen on acquiring Greenwood, who has just one season left on his current contract with Manchester United.
