According to Billboard, the mega-producer has sold a portion of his existing publishing catalog to Shamrock Capital for close to $70 million.
Metro Boomin is the man behind hits like Migos’ “Bad and Boujee,” Future’s “Mask Off,” Post Malone’s “Congratulations,” 21 Savage’s “Bank Account,” Drake and Future’s “Jumpman,” and The Weeknd’s “Heartless.”
In December, he released Heroes & Villains, his second album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and featured Young Thug, Travis Scott, Future, Don Toliver, Chris Brown, and others.
As a producer, he has 99 entries on the Hot 100, including two No. 1s and ten top tens. Metro Boomin has 46 entries on the Hot 100 as an artist.
His catalog is the latest acquisition for Shamrock, which previously acquired Dr. Dre’s music assets in a $200 million deal.
A majority stake in the late Juice WRLD’s catalog was quietly sold to Opus Music Group for a nine-figure sum last year.
Justin Bieber’s music rights were recently sold to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for more than $200 million, while Future’s catalog was valued between $65-75 million.
