A group of Ugandan mothers who have LGBT children has written a letter to President Yoweri Museveni urging him not to sign a new draft law that would sentence people who are discovered to be gay to prison.

In a letter published in local media, the parents expressed concern about how “religious fundamentalists, elected officials, and anti-gay lobbyists” had demeaned and dehumanized their children.
Homosexual acts are already illegal in Uganda, but the new bill adds many new criminal offenses, such as making it illegal to fail to report people in same-sex relationships.
