Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, husband of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has shared a heartfelt reflection on her journey since winning Nigerian Idol in 2012.
He revealed that after her big win, Mercy had every chance to pursue a career in secular music, but she chose to stay true to gospel. That decision, he explained, came with a price — four years of waiting before the rewards of her choice began to show.
His reflection came shortly after Mercy crossed a remarkable milestone of 200 million streams on Spotify, a feat he described as a clear sign that obedience and patience always pay off.
In an Instagram post, Pastor Blessed explained that what looked like a delay was actually preparation. He encouraged others to remain steadfast, noting that God’s path may sometimes feel slow, but it always leads to fulfillment.
“Her journey is proof that God’s will never fails,” he said, celebrating the release of her new album In His Will. He also urged people to stay focused, keep faith alive, and let Mercy’s songs be a blessing.
