Kenyan wildlife authorities have alerted residents of Nairobi’s Lang’ata area to remain vigilant after reports surfaced of three lions spotted nearby.
On Thursday, a team from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) was dispatched to search for the lions near Lang’ata Women’s Prison on the city’s outskirts. Despite an extensive search throughout the night, the team was unable to locate the lions, KWS said in a statement.
The KWS assured the public that they are closely monitoring the situation and remain on high alert to ensure public safety. “Ensuring the safety of the public is our top priority,” the statement read.
Residents have been encouraged to report any wildlife sightings in the area immediately.
This is not the first instance of lions escaping from Nairobi National Park, renowned as the only game park in the world located within a city.
