A petition circulating online has called for Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, to vacate their Hidden Hills estate due to concerns over Petty’s status as a registered sex offender.
In December 2022, Minaj and Petty purchased the lavish $19.5 million mansion, joining the ranks of celebrity neighbors such as Kim Kardashian, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The petition, titled “SAY NO TO SEX OFFENDERS IN HIDDEN HILLS,” was initiated by fellow resident Beverly Bardan on Change.org. According to TMZ, the petition argues that Petty’s presence could potentially devalue the properties in the community and raise safety concerns, particularly for children and women.
Petty, who was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a minor at the age of 16, served prison time for manslaughter in 2006. Currently, he is under a one-year house arrest sentence for failing to register as a sex offender in California, a legal requirement.

Aside from the safety concerns, Bardan expressed worry about the impact on property values, stating, “The presence of the Petty couple could lead to a decrease in the appraisal value of our homes due to safety concerns.”
Following his release from prison, Petty was required to register as a sex offender at his place of residence. However, his arrest in March 2020 by the U.S. Marshals for failing to register in California resulted in a three-year probation sentence, one year of house arrest, and a $55,000 fine.
Initially, Petty’s house arrest was carried out at the couple’s extravagant Calabasas property. However, federal prosecutors argued that this arrangement, with its luxurious amenities and gated community, did not constitute a sufficient punishment. They proposed a more stringent penalty, including 15 months of imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and an additional fine.
In unrelated news concerning Minaj, the rapper from Queens, New York, recently fell victim to a swatting incident. False reports were filed, claiming child abuse and a house fire at her residence. Minaj has taken legal action by hiring representatives to ensure those responsible for the swatting incident are held accountable.
