Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda has officially taken the reins as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the resignation of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
His appointment was confirmed during the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. Party leaders were present as the announcement signaled a new phase for the APC, especially as the party sets its sights on the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda’s swearing-in happened immediately after the confirmation. Sharing the news on social media, Presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare wrote:
“APC gets new chairman in Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda. Takes oath of office immediately.”
Before stepping into this new role, Yilwatda served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. He is known for his strong academic background, leadership vision, and commitment to addressing poverty and humanitarian needs. Born on August 8, 1968, in Dungung, Kanke LGA, he comes from a family rooted in public service—his father was the late Rev. Toma Yilwatda.
This leadership change marks a significant moment for the APC as it gears up for future political milestones.
